Meet some of the people who are excitedly putting this event together and learn why they enjoy EdCamps.
Martne McCoy (@learningirlie), Principal:
"I enjoy attending the Ed camp model for professional development because I am able to listen to a variety of ideas and also ask questions. I feel more involved and responsible for my own learning in this model because there is no speaker who I am waiting to get to "the good part". In other ways I am able to get an ideas through multiple perspectives than my own and that helps me understand things at a deeper level." Emily Owen (@EOwen369): I love EdCamps mostly because it's like a great conversation with your peers all day. You don't have to sit and listen to one person. There are multiple perspectives and many opportunities to get involved. You get to delve into topics that you're authentically interested in, so why not sign up?

Laura Bright (@LBrightEdu), 1st grade/tech coach: I am a newer addition to
the Edcamp scene and I am so glad the I jumped in. Not only is an Edcamp one of
the best ways to educate yourself on the most current educational topics but it
is the best way to meet positive, student-centered educators. It is such an
amazing experience to enter a room with 20-30 other people and discuss topics
that you are all dying to know more about. The level of productive problem
solving and critical thinking is unlike any other professional development
event that I have attended. My favorite part is the "no-presenters"
policy. There have been so many times that I wished I could just talk to
someone else about topics I was interested in. An Edcamp allows this specific
type of interaction to happen.
Julia Galvan (@JuliaGalvan3): EdCamps rock! I think they are one of the best venues for teachers to have those professional conversations that aren't always possible during the school day. Connecting with teachers from different districts is beneficial for everyone involved! I have learned so much from others and want to pass it on and learn even more. The fact we can make the sessions, go to any we want, leave and go to another one if it would fit our needs makes EdCamps great places to learn.

Dr. Sarah Mumm, Kaneland Director of Educational Services K-5:
I enjoy EdCamps because I get to guide my own learning and discuss with professional topics I feel are on the spot needs for my district. I love being able to hear what others want to grow in as a professional and have the flexibility of learning on the spot. |
